Challenge
Despite gynaecological cancers killing thousands every year, Australian women were embarrassed to talk about their genitals, even to their GP. Research told us this was because they considered all words used to describe them inappropriate. Even the word ‘vagina’ was considered taboo. We needed to share the facts, to engage the general public, to get people talking and to instigate donations to this wonderful cause.

Solution
We found a word that would start a conversation about women’s genitals and gynaecological cancers.
‘The Box’ was a term coined by gynaecologists in the 60’s that then worked its way into our everyday vernacular. It is also a vessel used to store precious items.
The term generated interest, empowered many women, sparked conversation and potentially saved lives.
